We power-stretch loose carpet back tight instead of just trimming it, re-bond failed seams with new tape and a heated iron, and cut in donor patches from a closet or leftover roll so the pile direction and pattern line up. Most repairs take a couple of hours and cost a small fraction of replacing the room.
